Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Photograph caption dated February 12, 1962 reads "Lyle LaBere [sic] loves the game of hockey. He loves the game so well that despite the loss of an arm he has improvised a hockey club taped to an artificial limb and takes his regular position with the Long Beach team which plays in the California League. He is the only one-armed stick wielder in the game and makes a commendable showing. His team was just edged out for the leadership of the league by the Los Angeles Canadians at the Pickwick Ice Arena, Burbank, Sunday night. They lost 8 to 6."
