Description
This picture appeared in the Sacramento Bee May 14, 1988 The California Peace Officer Memorial Monument stands next to the state library building. Sculpted by Vic Riesau of Big Bear Lake. Riesau was with the Los Angeles County Shefiff's Department for 23 years before he retired to become a sculptor in 1977. The sculpture depicts an 1880's sheriff, a 1930's motorcycle officer and a modern police officer complete with helmet. Another part of the monument depicts a woman and child holding a folded flag. The Sculpture was dedicated May 17, 1988
