Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated March 17, 1964 reads, "As fire sweeps toward a home in Burbank Hills in 3000 block of North Lamer Street, high school youths grab shovels and brush tools to join in the successful fight to check the blaze that threatened 50 homes in the $40,000 class." The article partially reads, "Gov. Edmund G. Brown today declared fire-ravaged sections of Burbank, Glendale and Eagle Rock a disaster area, paving the way for the federal government to issue a similar declaration to seek federal assistance if necessary...The first report came about 6 a.m. yesterday from the Whiting Woods district in Glendale, east of the Verdugo Hills.
