Photograph caption dated June 24, 1965 reads, "This picture, shot by Valley Times Photo Chief Gordon Dean, won an honorable mention in the National Editorial Association's Better Newspaper Contest. Note the sign that reads 'Fly Now, Rides $3.00.' The pilot, luckily walked away from the crash on the Glenoaks Boulevard side of the San Fernando Airport."
