Nancy Matthews, Scripps class of 1987, talks about her time at school and her life after Scripps. Ms. Matthews describes her experience as a transfer student from New England, and delves into the feel of the student body at Scripps and among the 5-C’s. She speaks on religious, racial, and socioeconomic diversity on campus. A duel Psychology and Women’s Studies majors, she touches on academics and the Humanities Program, as well as taking classes at Pomona, Claremont McKenna, and Pitzer. She touches on her duties as student body president, her role in campus life, and her social justice campaigns on campus, which included helping to establish the harassment policy during her time at Scripps and advocating for gay and lesbian students. She ends with her life after Scripps, where she has worked in student life at Cal Tech, and Cal State Long Beach among others.
