Image of an advertisement for McClure's April 1895 issue featuring a bust-length portrait of author George DuMaurier.
Item originally owned by illustrator Curtis Wager-Smith (1870-1950). Date supplied by cataloger based on copy held by the Library of Congress. "Shipley"--text, artist's signature on stone, bottom right of image. "The Author of 'Trilby' the story of his adventurous life; how he wrote 'Trilby.' A real conversation recorded by R. H. Sherard, With Pictures of Mr. Du Maurier and His Home... Short Stories by Conan Doyle, Robert Barr and Ian McLaren"--text, bottom center margin.
