8 images. Hancock Oil fire clean up, 24 May 1958. General views. Supplementary material reads: "Los Angeles Examiner. Date: 1958-05-24. Photographer: Gershon. Subject: Oil fire. Location: Hancock Refinery, Signal Hill. Names: Last wisps of smoke rise in right background under impact of foamite and water sprays. Demolished automobiles in foreground. Tank right background being sprayed was second to go, first is to its right. Part of tank left was section of second tank to 'blow.' Tank on right was scorched blew later. White spray on ladder leading up tank on right is foramite, tall towers in background are partly damaged cracking plant units. Scene shows 'dying embers' of Hancock Oil Refinery fire at right, desolation of plant taken from hill overlooking scene from the south of teh refinery. Note truck hauling away burned autos at lower 1 ft."
