The picture shows a group of people of African, Euopean and probably also Asian or mixed origin. The men and one child wear hats and stand in the background, some of the women in the front row wear scarfs. Three women in the middle sitting, the rest of the group standing. Only one man of the group on the left is of European origin. Another European man stands in the door of the house behind the group. To the left of the door an open window, to the right a closed window. Next to the women on the left a fence and probably a small garden. In front of the whole group a dark colored dog with a white colored belly. Imprinted on the image: "Christl. Eingeborene Elim. Süd-Afrika. West. No. 404." ("Christian Natives Elim. South Africa. West. No. 404."). The picture was taken by Brother L. Marx in June 1894.
