Description
Photo identification provided by Chris T. Higgins, California Division of Mines and Geology. Photograph shows miners removing mercury ore underground in the Wide Awake Mine, Sulphur Creek Mining District, Colusa County. The flat wall on the left side of the photograph may be the planar surface of a fault. Commonly, mercury ore is present along faults in the Coast Ranges of California.
