Description
Photograph of a view of the beach in Santa Monica looking north from a parking lot, 1920-1939. The parking lot is in the foreground and is full of early-model automobiles. Beyond the parking lot at center is a large grassy area with a covered walkway running down the middle. There are several people sitting on the grass at right. The beach is in the distance at left, and many bathers and beachgoers are visible. A large beach club is in the background at right, rising five or six stories above the beach. The pier is visible in the distance, and the La Monica Ballroom and a roller coaster are on the pier.
