Pictured is Russell E. Fuson, director of the California Highway Patrol in his office at CHP headquarters located at 437 N. Vermont Ave., Los Angeles. Fuson, who lives at 12141 Hillslope St., North Hollywood, started as a CHP motorcycle patrolman in Santa Cruz County in 1932. In 1956 he was appointed supervising inspector and commander of Zone Five, which includes Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura Counties. As commander of the largest highway patrol divisions in the state, Fuson coordinates and supervises the activities of 193 automobiles and 234 motorcycles - one of the largest traffic units in the country.
