Photograph caption dated October 10, 1962 reads "No cheering crowds for these determined athletes. The runners wend their way over a rugged course that is a real test of endurance." The article partially reads "Each Thursday afternoon some 800 young runners turn out to test their stamina against the rugged Pierce College cross country course."
