Photo shows the crowds of people waiting at the Grauman's Chinese Theater. The line stretched down Hollywood Boulevard and around the corner. This was the biggest opening day crowd in the history of Mann's Chinese Theater. The long-awaited movie, "Star Trek, the motion picture" played to a total of 7,000 people in its first three showings at the Hollywood film house. About 1,000 "Trekkies" - many of whom camped overnight - were in line when the box office opened at 8:45 a.m.
