Two marquees are visible in the garden; a red marquee in the forefront lists the name and address of the church, and a white marquee sitting farther back lists the days and times of services.; Organized in 1708, the Church of the Brethren is a Christian denomination that originates from the Schwarzenau Brethren. The first American church was established in 1723; these churches became commonly known as German Baptist Brethren. Historically, the church has taken a strong stance for non-resistance or pacifism and holds the New Testament as its only creed.
