Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Consolidated Mine in Virginia City, Nevada, 1933. A large, wood-paneled structure stands center with a shingled roof and two tall, metal cylinders standing just behind. On the left side of the structure the roof slopes up where a device sits with a tall, thin pole which is topped with a small sphere. Three lightly-colored doorways can be seen on the front side with several windows around them. Electrical poles stand in the yard while a small shed can be seen sitting in front of a second large structure on the right. The roof of the second structure appears to be damaged and the yard next to it is covered in supplies. A mountain side sits in the background. Picture file card reads "Machinery and boiler room of the mine. Discovered in 1837, it has become one of the most famous and richest mines in the world. Since its discovery, it has produced $180 million in gold and silver".
