Title supplied by cataloger.
An excavation machine on a state street-widening project struck a buried Standard Oil Co. 8-inch pressurized gasoline pipe. The gasoline shot up, formed a mist, and then exploded. All seven buildings on the Venice Blvd. block were demolished.
