Description
Inside view of St. Anthony Catholic Church, built in 1955 and located at 1901 S. San Gabriel Blvd in the city of San Gabriel. Photo shows a long stained glass window depicting St. F. Cabrini and two young children by her side. Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini (1850-1917) was born in Lombardy, Italy. She founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart to care for poor children in schools and hospitals. At the petition of Pope Leo XIII, she came to the United States in 1889 to work among Italian immigrants. St. Frances Cabrini was the first American citizen to be canonized. She is also the Patroness of Immigrants. Photo dated: December 23, 2006.
