Description
33rd Degree breast jewel belonging to William H. Crocker and Charles F. Crocker. By examining the piece in greater detail, I have found that the dedication on the reverse is actually engraved upon a separate plate hinged over the original inscription. The jewel once belonged to Charles F. Crocker upon his coronation in 1892, was given to Charles E. Green (who was the elder Charles Crocker's personal secretary) in 1897 following Charles' death, and then finally passed to William H. Crocker by Green in May 1915 in memory of his brother. William H. Crocker, a life-long member of California Lodge No. 1, was coroneted a 33rd Degree on October 20, 1903 by Past Grand Master and California S.G.I.G., William Franklin Pierce, at San Francisco Bodies, A. & A.S.R.
