Description
Becoming the circle, Venice, 2002. Pioneer French Baking Company, 512 Rose Avenue, Venice. "The mural is in four panels. The first and second panel shows a parade that merges issues reminiscent of an actual community parade that was discontinued at the beginning of World War II. Participants are drawn from present-day members of the neighborhood. Local trees and gardens form the background of the panels. In the second panel an older woman unfurls a quilt amidst segments of Venice's vanishing architectural heritage. A female drummer and a young girl with arms raised to the sun are in the third panel. The final phase once again shows people parading, but more in a collective march for a cause." Acrylic, by Francisco Letelier.
