In 1968, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army was adopted by the San Mateo City Council. The purpose of the adoption was to improve morale among the fighting troops with messages of love and support from home. The 101st Airborne became San Mateo’s Adopted Sons. This film shows the welcome home parade and ceremonies for the 101st Airborne returning from the Vietnam War in January 1972 in the City of San Mateo. San Mateo was one of the few cities to provide such a welcome to returning Vietnam War veterans. A/1/327 101 ABN. Only copy. No sound.
