Photograph caption dated April 5, 1956 reads, "Workers of Western Gulf Oil Co. of Los Angeles drill first wildcat test well for oil on the E. T. Carey ranch near the City of San Fernando. Located at end of Oro Grande street between San Fernando road and Sepulveda boulevard, project is expected to explore to approximately 7,000 feet. Test is an endeavor to develop commercial production from a fault closure on the north flank of the Mission Hills anticline."
