Description
Note translation: Pictures D-30.65.037 and 038 need to be looked at carefully before anyone uses them to document building techniques in Agogo ca. 1930. In 037 it looks as if bricks are being produced (see the object which the man on the oven has just put on the plank to slide down to his colleague). But to my mind the caption's message is clear: chalk or lime is being produced ("Kalkstein"). And it is not clear to me how the visual impression can best be resolved with the caption. In 038 bricks are being dried in the open air. The reference to the kiln may be coincidental - i.e. the kiln used for producing lime/mortar just happenes to be there is the picture and is mentioned in order to link 037 and 038 geographically. But I suppose it could be that the bricks were being fired after drying. (PJ 05.1999).
