Photograph article dated January 4, 1961 partially reads, "A Van Nuys man's homemade plane has passed its airworthiness test with flying colors. The craft, put together over a 15-month period by Ralph Thenhaus, 49, in his back yard at 6536 Colbath Ave., was successfully flown for the first time over the long New Year weekend." Pictured with the Skyhopper aircraft he built at home, are Ralph Thenhaus, his wife, Virginia, and children, John and Carolyn.; See images #00129225 through #00129226 for all photos in this series.
