PhotographÂ was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated January 4, 1961 partially reads, "A Van Nuys man's homemade plane has passed its airworthiness test with flying colors. The craft, put together over a 15-month period by Ralph Thenhaus, 49, in his back yard at 6536 Colbath Ave., was successfully flown for the first time over the long New Year weekend."
