Description: View of the deck of the C.A. Larsen while docked in the Los Angeles Harbor. Commander Richard E. Byrd was utilizing the whaling ship for his first exploration of Antarctica and the South Pole, via New Zealand. This image was taken the day of Byrd's departure on October 10, 1928.
