Description
2018-1993. Bust-length portrait. From J.E.D. Baldwin Collection. Born in Ross County, Ohio, 1841. Served in Civil War in Company B, 63d Regiment Ohio Infantry. In 1865, regiment ordered to California, travelling by way of the Isthmus of Panama. Upon arrival received offer to visit Siberia in interest of Russia, spent a year. Returning the California, settled in Sacramento, worked as superintendent in construction of first telegraph line from Sacramento to Ogden; was locomotive engineer on Southern Pacific Railroad. Member of Grand Army of the Republic, Warren Post No. 54.
