2 images. Rescued Dane, 27 June 1958. Walter Westborg -- 40 years (of Denmark in experimental lifeboat called 'Viking Rescue craft' he was picked up off Mexico by Mearsk Line Freighter. Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Gershon. Date: 1958-06-27. Reporter: Gershon. Assignment: Walther Westborg, 40, in "cockpit" of lifeboat he says is world's best. Bubble at right pulls back over his head as he pilots vessel ala aircraft. He and craft were picked up disabled off Mexico coast by Maersk [sic] Line freighter Johannes Maersk, and brought to L.A. Harbor". Supplementary material reads: "Photographer: Gershon. Date: 1958-06-27. Subject: Rescued Dane, Los Angeles Harbor. Walther Westborg, 40, of Denmark, and 'experimental lifeboat' called Viking Rescue Craft which he hopes to prove most seaworthy by taking her around the world. He was picked up off Mexico by Maersk Line freighter Johannes Maersk, after craft was disabled in beaching on Mexico shore".
