A group of men, women and children stand as they attend presidential candidate Ángel Aníbal Guevara's campaign rally in Ciudad Vieja, Sacatepéquez. One man standing in the middle is wearing a hat and crossing his arms. Some of the women and children are wearing colorful traditional Mayan clothing. On March 8, 1982 Guevara won the presidential election although electoral fraud was claimed by other parties. A military coup prevented Guevara from assuming power and installed a three-man junta headed by General Efraín Ríos Montt. Un grupo de hombres, mujeres y niños yacen parados mientras asisten al mitin de campaña del candidato presidencial Ángel Aníbal Guevara en Ciudad Vieja, Sacatepéquez. Un hombre parado sobre el medio de la imagen lleva sombrero y tiene los brazos cruzados. Varias de las mujeres y niños llevan ropa tradicional maya colorida. El 8 de marzo de 1982, Guevara ganó las elecciones presidenciales aunque el fraude electoral fue denunciado por otros partidos.
