Photograph caption dated December 28, 1957 reads, "Lined up with their noses aimed into wind, these Lockheed built ultrasonic Starfighter jets will be turned over to Air Force defense commands within next few weeks, marking first Valley aviation highlight of 1958. Planes are in ground formation at Lockheed's Palmdale plant. Starfighter is favorite to take Thompson speed trophy this year."
