Description
This photograph shows an exhibit of horse-drawn vehicles at the 1895 California State Fair, courtesy of the Schaw, Ingram, Batcher and Company. The company did business at 211 through 219 J Street, also selling hardware and blacksmith supplies. William Schaw, the son of Sacramento pioneers, was founded the business. His sons, William Beaumont and Edward went on to expand the business's interests into pipe production and fitting and were responsible for establishing the Sacramento Pipe Works at Sixteenth and North B Streets.
