Description
The Valley to Vietnam series, produced by Sacramento Public Library, traces the arc of experience of Vietnam era veterans living in the Sacramento, California area. Sacramento-born Mike Durant attended Encina High School and enjoyed the experience of growing up in Sacramento's northern suburbs. In 1966, however, he volunteered for the military and found his way to Phu Bai, Republic of Vietnam, as a member of the signal corps. After Vietnam, Durant's life was enriched with time in Taiwan, Japan and a satisfying stint as a journalist and science writer.
