John Irving discusses his book, “A Prayer for Owen Meany.” Meany is described as a religious figure that is undersized and damaged, who accidentally kills his best friend’s mother. Owen goes on to find success in the written word and Johnny, Owen’s best friend, looks at the world with a political view. Irving says the book is about a personal religious experience and that the reader is best persuaded emotionally and psychologically. Irving's interview ends at the pause at the end of the video.
