Installation of 33 meter shortwave radio transmitter on Pabco Flyer, one of the entrants in ill-fated Dole Race to Honolulu -- Thie plane cracked up on take-off and radio transmitter removed. This transmitter was within a few days, installed on Irwin's Dallas Spirit and operated continuously from take-off 2:15 pm Aug 19, 1927 to 9:04 pm Aug 19 when plane crashed in tail spin. Note cutaway in leading edge of right wing for wind driven generator (AC) mounting."
