Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Photograph caption dated September 21, 1957 reads, "Police Officer Charles Perry cautiously walks up on simian escapee, attempting to make pinch with apple bait and noose. Monkey climbed to roof and eluded Perry. After two-hour chase by police and neighborhood children, men from the Animal Shelter arrived and captured runaway at 6858 Bellingham Ave., North Hollywood, and carried him away to await claim by owner at Animal Shelter, 13131 Sherman Way, Van Nuys."
