Description
The Wayside Honor Rancho was renamed The Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center in 1983.
Photograph caption dated September 14, 1959 reads "Direct prison. Inspector Ralph Wyatt, right, director of rancho, hears report from Capt. Roy Chandler, head of minimum security unit. At back is map which shows how rancho is nestled in mountains. It encompasses 2,800 acres." The prison is at 29310 The Old Road in Castaic.
