Description
This 1980 photograph shows William Land Park’s pony course, consisting of 150 yards of trails. The attraction was started up in 1926 by Martin Bryant and operated through Second World War, a time when gas rationing did nothing to hinder parents to travel countywide to get their children a pony ride. In 1948, the concession was acquired by Eddie Fernandes, the son of Portuguese immigrants. The family’s stint ended in 1980 when the rides were operated by Norma Ryon and then purchased by Placer County resident Lynn Hegemann.
