Description
“Hospital & hill from yaws camp.” “ Foreground – Yaws camp – background main hospital. [Buildings from left to right] Dressing hut, dinning hut, Iron hospital, Tumutumu hill, male surgical with store behind [unseen?], 3 of the 8 round huts of Yaws camp.” Landscape view of the mission hospital with the sacred hill behind. The two figures in the foreground are probably Miss Hamilton, nursing staff, and Rev. J. N. Ogilvie, convener of the Foreign Mission Committee, who was touring the East Africa missions and visited Tumutumu in September 1920. ❧ This image is from an album chronicling the time that Dr Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) spent at Tumutumu (1919-1921) and some of the early years at Chogoria.
