Description
An issue titled as: West Coast localities: Sacramento County and City. The account proposes a summary on the history, occupation and social activities among the Japanese community, both at the Tule Lake and in general in the Sacramento County, starting in 1870s, when the first immigrants arrived.
The collection contains material used by Carey McWilliams in writing the book, Prejudice: Japanese Americans, symbol of racial intolerance (Little, Brown, 1944). It includes U.S. War Relocation Authority records, confidential reports, bibliographies, clippings and compilations of articles, legal papers, correspondence between McWilliams and Japanese American evacuees, relocation camp newspapers and other publications, two copies of his book, and five copies of the 1994 videocassette (40 min.), Something Strong Within.
