This is a photograph of the faculty of Fr. Murphy's school at Shanchengzi. They are posing out doors on a ledge of the brick building. To the left is a piano and in front of them is a table draped with a cloth. Behind them are two flags crossed over eachother. Rev. Murphy was born in Springfield, MA. He entered Maryknoll in 1923 and was ordained in 1929 and assigned that year to Fushun. He was repatriated aboard the refugee ship Gripsholm in 1942 and returned to Manchuria in 1946. The communist presence forced him to return to the U.S. in 1947.
