Three armed Salvadoran Army soldiers walk down a street in San Salvador while on patrol during election day. They each hold an M16A1 assault rifle, which shoots 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition. The weapon was designed, manufactured and supplied to the Salvadoran government by the United States. Richard Cross took this image in 1982 while covering the presidential election and War of Liberation in El Salvador.
