Description
Title supplied by cataloger.
This crash occurred after an air traffic controller incorrectly cleared the plane, flying from San Jose, for landing. The captain delayed the go-around and the plane stalled. It then banked left and the wingtip touched the runway, causing the nose to go down and for the plane to skid down the runway. A fire then broke out, but only four of the 96 passengers and crew members sustained minor injuries.
Airport staff works with a crane to tow a damaged Air California 73 jet off one of the runways at John Wayne Airport.
