Description
Photograph of panoramic view of a desert mining town on the Colorado River -- Hedges (later Tumco), Imperial County, ca.1905. About twenty small wood houses and shacks made up the town in the foreground. About the same number of buildings are visible in the distance beyond a processing plant of some sort (with two smokestacks) at left. Streets are ill defined. The landscape is basically flat, but rising to the right where some foothills are visible behind the town.
