View of the intersection of 3rd Street and Spring Street in downtown Los Angeles, California, showing pedestrians, bicyclists, horse-drawn carriages, and streetcars labeled "Santa Monica" and "Plaza" in front of the building housing the Ramona Hotel (or Hotel Ramona) at 305 South Spring and Desmond the hatter.
"Research Dept. of Metro-Goldwyn Mayer, Apr 1929 "--stamp on verso. "Garden City Photo Co. Only Publisher of Stereoscopic Views on the Coast. 606 East Fifth St., Los Angeles, Cal. Tel. Main 1527: Home 3397 or 1527"--text printed on verso. The Ramona Hotel opened in 1886 and was demolished in 1912. Title devised by cataloger. Date approximated by cataloger based on general history of building and photographer; Cornelius Desmond began appearing at the Spring Street location in the 1900 Los Angeles city directory and Garden City Photo Co. only appears in Los Angeles City directories through 1904.
