Notes on reel: "I (b) A Man Named Smith ___ + the Oakland Police (c) 1960-05-09 11:30 'Dr. Martin Luther King' receives Local 1199 of the Drug and Hospital Union's annual Brotherhood Fund contribution to the NAACP. Dr. King speaks of his plans for the immediate future. Recorded March 10 in New York (WBAI) (d) 11:15 'Power and Powerlessness in America': A speech by Hulbert James, Director of the NCC Committee on Domestic Hunger, in which he analyzes the issues around poverty, the struggle in which Dr. King gave his life. Mr. James documents the alienation and repression of the present social order and its value system of inhumanity.
