Description
This photo of Everlasting Truevine Missionary Baptist Church, which is nestled between two residential homes, was taken from across the street along East 34th Street. It shows a cream-color building with a brown roof and beige trim. Several steps lead to the main entrance, which has a security gate in front of it and a window directly above it. Two small cathedral windows are on the right section of the church with writing above them. It reads "Everlasting Truevine Missionary Baptist Church; Rev. Herman Johnson, Pastor". A black security fence surrounds the sides of the church. Verso on photograph says that in 1920 this church was known as Lincoln Memorial Congregational Church, in 1930 the name was changed to Cavalry Baptist Church, and in 1941 the name was once again changed and it became Evening Star Baptist Church. It does not, however, list when it acquired its current name. Photo dated: December 2005.
