Quiet, solemn-faced, 420 Japanese are shown as they left the old Santa Fe station by train for Owens Valley on April 1, 1942, to start new lives in new homes. This was the first exodus under Army direction, following voluntary trips inland by other aliens. Stern soldiers are seen maintaining order. Considered a possible menace to the war effort, the Japanese are shown entraining for relocation centers set up by the government.
