Description
Arthur Baker, 72, of Pollock Pines, El Dorado County, sits in front of a wall of his small cabin he has decorated in celebration of the nation's 200th birthday. The four-foot by nine-foot display consists of flags and photos depciting events leading up to the Bicentennial. The 75 items include pictures of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, the Statue of Liberty, Indians on the attack, bandits robbing stage coaches and photos of an early day California mission. "We must not forget that our forefathers built this great nation. We should not forget from where we descended," says Baker, a disabled veteran of World War II.
