Description
The local Mexican American colony in 1953 celebrated Cinco de Mayo, the fifth of May, the day on which Austrian Archduke Maximillian was deposed and executed in 1866. Here at historic Avila House on Olvera Street participants placed flowers before a portrait of Gen. Ignacio Zaragaza, who overthrew the Austrian leader. In the group are: Miguel Garcia, Margarita Garcia, Virginia Henandez, and Beatrice Aguirre.
