Description
Two women in French fashions from 1831. The woman on the left wears a dress of ivory-color with a blue flower pattern. Her bodice is pleated across from her right shoulder to her left hip. Her waist is defined by a belt of the same fabric as the dress with blue edging. Her belt buckle is oval and ivory colored. The neck is off-the-shoulder and edged with a narrow white lace ruffle. Her dress has short but voluminous melon sleeves. She wears white gloves and white lace-up flats. Around her neck and over her shoulders she wears a blue chain necklace and matching gold and blue bead earrings. In her right hand she holds a small bouquet of blue, pink, and white flowers. She wears a blue bonnet with a large brim and two blue bows below the brim. On top is a bunch of white feathers. Her left hand rests on a table next to her that is covered with a purple velvet cloth with white fringe at the hem. The woman on the right wears a gray dress in the same style with similar details. Her back faces the viewer and she sits on a wooden bench with red velvet upholstery with white fringe. She wears a necklace of pearls in a scalloped pattern and chandelier earrings. She wears a red bonnet with two large white bows and a bunch of white feathers.
