Photograph of an engraving of Fort Ross, California. Three smaller fenced-in enclosures are attached to the main fence fortification. Numerous buildings are visible behind the fence and in the flat area to the left outside the fort on the cliff overlooking the ocean. Three sailing ships are visible in the ocean at the foot of the cliff. One is visible beyond the fort on the other side of the bluff on which the fort is built. A flag flies from one of the fort buildings.
