Photograph caption dated June 27, 1960 reads, "San Fernando Post 176, American Legion, organized in 1920 to become one of Valley's oldest Legion posts, observed the 42nd anniversary of the Legion founding as Sam Turner, commander, and Mrs. Ruth Hoge, auxiliary president, cut a huge birthday cake. The annual celebration was held at the Legion clubhouse, 602 Pico St., San Fernando."
